The decree of the President of Ukraine #456/95 of 17.06.1995 says: “To institute the Architect’s Day in Ukraine and celebrate it annually at the 1st of July, in Universal Architect’s Day”.

Universal Architect’s Day was instituted by the World Architects Union. The Union originated in 1946, after the Second World War, when it was necessary to raise the destroyed towns, reestablish the factories, renew the monuments of architecture.

Since 1996 Universal Architect’s Day is celebrated together with the Universal Day of Dwelling, on the first Monday of October. This decision was reached during the XX General Assembly of the United Nations Organization in Barcelona.
